This is an official announcement of an important change to our hosting platform.
Due to another significant price increase from cPanel/WebPros, scheduled to take effect on December 1, 2026, SimpleSonic has made the decision to transition all of our remaining cPanel hosting servers to DirectAdmin.
Since 2019, cPanel/WebPros has repeatedly increased licensing costs, year after year. With another increase now scheduled, we have reached the point where passing another increase on to our clients is not something we believe is reasonable, and continuing to absorb these rising costs is not sustainable.
Rather than continue down that path, we have chosen to move to DirectAdmin.
We will be migrating our existing cPanel servers to DirectAdmin in batches prior to December 1, 2026.
Each server will be migrated separately, and we will send a detailed notification specific to your server before your migration takes place. This notification will provide additional information about the migration process, expected timing, and anything you may need to do.
Our goal is to make each transition as smooth as possible and minimize any disruption to your services.
The most important thing to understand is that your hosting service itself is not changing.
Our DirectAdmin hosting plans provide the same core features and capabilities as our cPanel plans. Your websites, email, databases, files, domains, and other hosting services will continue to operate as they do today.
The primary difference you will notice is the appearance and interface of the hosting control panel.
In other words, you will be using DirectAdmin instead of cPanel to manage your hosting account.
There is an additional benefit to this change.
Our DirectAdmin hosting plans are currently priced lower than our equivalent cPanel plans. As a result, moving from cPanel to DirectAdmin will reduce the cost of your hosting plan.
We believe this is a much better outcome than repeatedly increasing prices simply to keep up with third-party licensing costs.
Rather than passing another cPanel price increase on to you, we are changing the underlying platform and using the savings to provide you with a more sustainable and cost-effective hosting service.
No action is required from you at this time.
We will continue migrating servers in batches, and you will receive a separate notification when your particular server is scheduled for migration. That notification will contain the specific details and timeline for your server.
